Myf has enjoyed some herding this year. She is only just starting out, but she participated in her first herding trials recently and has gained her "Herding Test" Title. This is the first step in the sport of ANKC Herding. It means that Myf is able to move sheep in a controlled manner and can get them to change direction (twice). She joins both Rommy and Didge in gaining this title. She'll take a bit of a break from herding whilst she matures a bit more.
Herding is something that many shelties enjoy. If you are interested (and in South Australia), you should join the Herding Dog Club of South Australia (they also have a Facebook group) if you are interested in having a try at the sport.

The Jaemist Shelties had a get together back at the start of July. It was the 3rd birthday for a few of them - so any excuse to get together. They all had a lovely time, running on the oval and also enjoying little birthday 'pup cakes'. These were made from carrot, pumpkin, sugar free peanut butter, eggs and wholemeal flour. All the shelties thought they were very yum. We love catch-ups with the Jaemist family. It is so good to see everyone and to see the shelties growing up. |
